Raych’s running diaries: Top 10 P.B.L’s (Personal Best Lessons) countdown

P.B.L No. 10 : Desire it.

Crave it. Something. Anything. Everyone must imagine the best. Their best. Look up to something great. Un-chain yourself. Get off the cage that limits you. Rise, show up, kick. Shine a light. Don’t complicate it. Let the desire build. Then you can’t hold. Desire great things in Heaven, on Earth and the galaxies too.

PBL no. 9 : Just do it!

Nike.Embrace and get on with it. Start. A victim of overthinking this was a win this year.  The sun rises and shines on your path, why then are you stuck. Worried? Scared?

What a coincidence. My post below 3 years ago spoke about taking action.

Foot on pedal! Do what’s got to be done.

PBL No. 8 – Failure must be part of you.

Cry. Feel beaten. Feel the loneliness of failure. Pause. Clean your lenses. Head up and face it head on. Make a choice. You can’t end the journey. Dont stop. Keep moving forward. Keep trying. Until your bad is good. Your good is better. Your better is best. Don’t miss the journey lessons and Joys. Don’t throw away the lemon. Make lemonade.

PBL No. 7 – Rid self of excuses, complaining and negativity

Excuses. Stall you. Complaining. Dwarfs you. Negativity. Makes you miserable. All too draining. It’s a choice to see the best in each situation. To see the silver lining. The crowds swell but soon it pours. Showers of blessings. It’s darkest before dawn. Both dark and Light, make life beautiful. Fireflies glow in the dark.

PBL No. 6 – Motivation eludes you.

Truth. Some days are dull. You have no energy. Pray. Find it. Fake it. Discipline calls you to action. Find a reason. Move. What if the world counted on you. It does. Your world. Your life. Craft your piece. Paint your canvas. Its okay. Tommorrow is another day. Make it count. And when you got the energy rock  like a star! Bring the sun down!

PBL No. 5. – The pulpit, the water point. Everyone needs a wellspring.

Ask a dehydrated runner. The water point, a precious sight. Life. Dark valleys. Sickness. Injuries. Letdowns. Betrayals. Depression. Pain. Financial crisis. Death. Unfulfilled dreams. Loads too heavy. No one born of fresh and blood can raise you from them.  Truth is no one can outrun these realities of life. Not even at 1.59.40. Gaze up, shout an Amen. Every click shout an Amen. Every stride shout an Amen. The pulpit nourishes. Let’s crowd it, like the crowds at a start line waiting in anticipation. You need that for the miles ahead that await. The wellsprings of life sparkle to nourish you. Come to me all you who are overladen and I shall give you rest. Amen.

PBL No. 4 – Be intentional.

About you. Leave nothing to chance. No stone unturned. Work. Love. Pray. Preach. Race. Sleep. Play. Read. Help. Teach. Train. Eat. Anything you do. Everything you do. Yes. Cry if that’s what the moment calls for. Let go the tears. Free your heart of emotions. Intentional about choices you make. Why be alive and offer average performance. Why operate below your gauge. Tune and turn up. Whom or what are you saving energy for. When breath becomes air, your chances will have run out. Be intentional about everything. Intensely work hard. Intensely love. Intensely give.

PBL No. 3 – New year. The start line.

01.01.2020.Here. Today. Alive. Grateful. A new year. Reflect. Review. Resolve. A few not too many. Keep time. Sleep more. Smile more. Play more. Shop less. Refuse to remain at the start line. Uncertainty. Faith. Move forward. Don’t linger too long wandering. You dont need the whole picture just the outline. Atleast where it starts. We figure out as we move. Start lines, an opportune to warm up for what’s ahead. To pose for a “before”

selfie. Hear the drum rolls. The dance. The music. The love. The poses. Families get together. Friends catch up. They got you. We got each other. It can only get better. To a great new year. Another one. The start gun 3, 2, 1….the timer is on. 2020 shine bright every day. 365 diamonds. We gonna Sparkle!

PBL No. 2: If you keep at it, you get better.

Consistency. Doing it over and over. Repeating it. Masters were once amateurs. They kept at it. Day, night, rain, sunshine. A master of your own. Reaching out to your goals. I have ran. Many days. Many miles. Am not there yet. Running paces 9.23min/km. 8.17min/km. 7.59min/km. 6.26min/km. 5.25 min/km and on one odd day when am doped 4.30min/km. Rare but Its possible. I have walked. Run 2 steps walked 4 steps. Our paces in various aspects of life vary we keep trying. Do it over and over until you get better. In everything. In anything you have been assigned under the sun. A better version of you a day at a time. Then a best version of you shall be. You must return a best version of you. Mighty one guide us. All for your glory.

PBL No. 1:  39@39. Years come and go.

Make the best of every situation. Like a running route sometimes you have no idea where you’re going. You trust it’s the right direction. You trust your strength.  Dark paths. A long awaited dawn. The sun shines. Years passby. Lots happens. You laugh lots. You cry lots. You love lots. You grow. Embrace the years. Embrace people. They bring the best in us. Choose to see that.  Enjoy life. Dare yourself. Reach out for what gives you a kick. When you find it. Have no apologies. Travel. Anywhere and everywhere. On a “Nduthi” – Motobike. On a boat. On a plane. Experience the skies. Create unforgettable memories. Dare. Try. Try the moon. Timbuktu. You change. For better. Maybe. When it shines. It shines. On you. On your little and big things. Share big. Except chocolates. No joy in dining alone. Reward yourself. Visit the “sunshine” boutique. Buy a label. Rock. Enjoy nature. Sleep in a tent. Eat Salmon. Eat “Mutura” – African sausage. Read books. Be lazy once in a while. Don’t be afraid to say what you want. Ask. From the one above. His promises are new and fulfilled. If you don’t. Years will still go by. Regrets shall follow you. You shall miss the sweetest things in life. Some you dont even know existed. You owe yourself and the world to be You. Find your space and be You. Best you. Pray hard. Ask others to pray for you when you cant. Beg for forgiveness because you piss God and people off. Shut up when you must. I am 39 today. Thank God for me and All He has given me. All for His glory. Thank God for all you awesomest people in my life, that includes you reading this.
