Good Friday. The way of the cross.
The journey of Salvation.
A pious exercise. Far from it. Headed to calvary.
The most important gear. The cross. That icon of hope. A source of strength.
We all need this. To take a walk. Stop the running. Stop the fast pace and pause to walk.
Only then can you take note of the weaknesses. Jesus falls. Once. Twice. Three times. You will fall. From a run. In life. But He, the son of man rose up. Look at the cross. Rise up. Don’t stay down. Cry. Wipe the tears. Scream.
Notice the “Simeons” in your life. They come to us at our lowest state in life. They help our crosses. Our heaviest crosses. As they bend to help lift our “crosses” they bear the stench of misery ingrained in our lifes.
The “Veronicas” who wipe our faces, their cloths left with the mark of our desolateness.
The crowds armed with a mob ideology that none can stand and defend. So loud. A crowd with no definite resolute. You have to wade through it, ignore the noise and do what needs to be done. Jesus, died on the cross. What do you need to wade through the crowd and accomplish? The finish line is in sight. You see hope. The cross beckons. Don’t give up. Keep going. Run. Sprint. Walk.
The Boston sprint. Cherono and Desisa.
Notice the wounds. Let the scars be a reminder of the healing you have received. The healing you will receive when you fall and look up. You’re only human.
A friend of mine suffered a fall recently while running. This chap is a master of the road so the fall would have been worse at his speeds. Luckily he escaped with some bruises. He had them bandaged. To cover them. Jesus was stripped. Uncovered. Exposed.
Be covered by the blood of Jesus. Only then can your wounds, from a fall be covered. Not by bandages, not clothes. Along the “way of the cross” are distractions. The laughing “thief” hanging on the left. Save yourself.
The sixth station. “We adore you oh Christ and we bless you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world” I get distracted. I notice a hand held fan. They sell those. Mental note for my menopausal heated years. An incline. Runners notice inclines. We await upon our Lord to rise. Holy Saturday. Easter is in sight. The finish line is in sight. Keep on. Don’t give up. The reward. The medal makes it all worth it. You have journeyed. You have logged in the miles.
Have a great Easter. Have a great run ” Team London” “Team Vancouver”.
